Thousands of China collaborators are under surveillance. Some are on the brink of ruin, others don’t even know what’s in store for them
There comes a time during or shortly after the academic training of every “Student of China” when he frequently runs into one of the many agents of Western anti-China state security.
They are adverse hostile forces, they run a complete background-check on you, and then they‘ll make you a simple offer: You either produce anti-Chinese content for the West, or they‘ll mark you as anti-democratic and enemy of freedom, a traitor. In that case, you’ll never find work in the West again.
And if you make a big fuss about it and cry coercion or blackmail, they are gonna start decomposing you.
Like most young students back then, I, too, was completely ignorant about the inner workings of Western world hegemony. And, like the idiot I always was, I threw myself heedlessly into “China Studies” at a respective University in the United Kingdom, Edinburgh to be exact.
Immediately, the conceited profs and lecturers, they taught us the horrors of Han chauvinism, the horrors of Qing China and the horrors of the Maoists and the horrors against the poor people of Tibet, Hong Kong and Taiwan.
When I looked it up, those were all former British colonies and/or places of interest to the British Crown. We were told LIES by the very British people whose soldiers raped, looted and colonized China, and were now angry that China somehow stood its ground and survived.
I do not expect you to believe at first what I am about to tell you. I would not have believed it myself, back then I mean, before I joined some of the many “Studies” invented by the Western Empire of LIES.
“China Studies” is not about China. It could be, but it is not. It is warfare against China. To keep China down. To sabotage her. To control her people and her history.
In this war, it is the West or you perish. Joining the enemy, China, is a capital crime. Have you ever wondered why there are no pro-China talking heads in the books, in the papers or on telly? It is because pro-China people in “China Studies” were the enemy. They didn’t make it through graduation, they weren’t hired, etc..
Our common sense is often betrayed by what sociologists call ‘the survivor bias’: We believe that since all we hear or read about China is negative, this must be sure proof that China is a very nasty place. What we fail to see, however, is that all the negative stuff we heard and read about China was the product of just 1 “China Studies” graduate for every 1,000,000 people or so of the general Western population. Nobody who was pro-China survived the selection process or came anywhere near central power.
Everyone the UK authorities detect who doesn’t match the profile of “a future China-basher” is not selected for graduation or a top post. It is as simple as that.
When I decided to expand from “Sanskrit Studies” and do my own research on Buddhism in mainland China, I must have triggered UK anti-China state security. I spare you the whole process; safe to say it was unpleasant. To their credit, they tried to talk me out of it. I declined an exchange year in US-Taiwan, even for money. Then they gave me a scholarship to British Hong Kong, but I declined that as well. I wanted to go to mainland China, on my own.
Saying the quiet part out loud. The west is demanding blood - the deaths of millions of Chinese people - in order to sustain Apple’s stock price a little longer.

it’s interesting how the american state department and some european journalists are conferring whiteness in the midst of this war, deeming ukraine uniquely worthy of sympathy and support not typically shown to “uncivilized” people (i.e. somalia, who the u.s. bombed about 10 days ago). Ukrainians most certainly were not treated as somewhat white and properly “civilized” in the press up until about three weeks ago. on the other hand, in typical fashion, everyone and everything tangentially related to russia is feeling the wrath of the united states’ cold war obsession. americans are even extending their racism to inanimate objects like vodka.
when the news media started waxing poetic about how aryan and pristine Ukraine is, i felt like i was in different timeline because since HWHEN were ukrainians white to yall? yall really can’t sympathize with a people being assaulted if they’re not portrayed as (conditionally) white? not to mention how blatant and brazen they are in saying this LOUDLY on television lol.

don’t forget that when Russia tried to help more directly (Cuba as well as other small countries being bullied by US imperialism), it got sanctioned to hell and back by the US and NATO + put under increased pressure by NATO military forces at the border + became the subject of an extensive slander campaign that lasts to this day.
There’s a reason it’s called a blockade, and countries don’t just observe it out of politeness: there are real, grave consequences if the US decides you’ve breached a blockade inside it’s sphere of influence.
Color revolutions and other CIA op shit like the “protests” currently taking place in Cuba are tailor made for naive young progressives on sites like Tumblr especially. Like, no offence but this shit was designed in a goddamn lab to get swallowed up and reproduced through the infographics/What’s Happening In X-industrial complex that constitutes “activism” on social media sites like Twitter, Tumblr, Instagram, etc. Most people’s “progressive” politics on here are entirely based on aesthetics and appeals to emotion and standpoint epistemology (and are also ludicrously anglo/Western-centric but I’m not even going to get into that rn lmaooo), not a materialist and principled anti-imperialist and anti-capitalist understanding of the world. Your average fandom blogger will take the most naive, surface-level view of things and assume all protests that want “freedom” and “democracy” are inherently good and woke and heckin valid. Understanding the actual class makeup and consciousness of protest movements, what their actual goals are, how they are produced by the material conditions and histories of the countries they are located in, how they fit in to the global scheme of imperialism and unipolar American world order and therefore whether they deserve to be supported or not is far too much to ask of most people on here when they have fucking MCU headcanons and queer discourse to argue about 90% of the time.
especially the way a lot of these infographics and awareness posts frame it as a matter of “activists taking a stand against an oppressive govt.” the economy of online content focused on spreading awareness on various world issues when people repeating it dont care to investigate beyond hearing that something is happening in xyz foreign country is an easy way to repeat imperialist propaganda under the assumption that youre being progressive. then you get shit like people putting hong kong protests and palestine on the same resources carrd as if they are similar at all
the cognitive dissonance displayed in some posts about palestine by white americans etc is absolutely fucking astounding. i really really need you to understand that the horrific genocidal process of land expropriation we are witnessing in sheikh jarrah is how all of israel was settled, how every settler colony was established, and that that violence and theft are ongoing not just in occupied palestine but where you live. in the united states and canada and australia and new zealand and new caledonia and french polynesia and the french antilles and and and. and that if you don’t understand settlerism, the ideology behind it and the mechanisms through which it is enacted; if you do not see the material connection between standing rock and gaza, you cannot be effective allies to palestinians because you do not actually understand what is happening in palestine. that the dispossession and murders have an end goal, and it is the establishment of a colonial state that looks like yours. of a country where natives don’t exist, or exist in such minuscule numbers that large scale resistance becomes impossible. the end goal is annihilation. what appears like “senseless” brutality does have a purpose, and it is a purpose that is fundamentally incompatible with the existence of palestinians. and when you see pictures and videos from jerusalem, you need to remember that the land you are standing on was and continues to be settled through the same processes. not so that you can feel useless guilt, not to derail from the urgency of the situation in palestine; but specifically so that you can contextualize the genocide of palestinians and where it fits in the colonial timeline. so that you can understand talks of two state solutions and nuance and “both sides” the same way you understand manifest destiny and unceded land and one-sided treaties. and so that you can finally develop an internationalist political approach to indigenous struggle and liberation and imperialism, and start fighting the correct enemies where you live in the belly of the beast, because that is what you have to offer and what will help colonized people everywhere.
the word indigenous describes a specific relation to colonialism and to regional structural power, it does not simply mean “originally from/autochtonous to a given piece of land”. in the context of a racially organized settler state, claiming the dominant group that holds all judicial and political power is “indigenous” is absurd and literally goes against the definition of the word. it also negatively impacts native struggle globally by muddying people’s understanding of indigeneity and what the needs and demands of indigenous people are. incidentally, this was half the point of my post.
the jewish diaspora is spread across the world, and has been for more than two thousand years. they have throughout that time become integrated within various countries and cultures, developing their own unique ethnocultural identities, which is why terms like ashkenazi and mizrahi and sephardi exist. the denial and erasure of jewish european, african and asian national and cultural identities in order to retroactively justify the zionist project is one of the ways in which zionism is also harmful to jews.

the idea that young women en masse would enthusiastically have lots of babies and raise a huge family if only she had the necessary economic support that is denied to her by capitalist society and the nuclear family model is truly fucking bonkers. how are you a feminist if you believe that? is it inconceivable to you that someone could be fully financially and logistically capable of having and raising children comfortably but simply doesnt want to?
oh no, because then you would have to admit that some people just dont like children and arent interested in parenthood, which on principle is a fact that you hate and think is evil, so you’d rather not acknowledge it so you aren’t put in a position where you might have to defend it!
